ABOUT
MODERN ART SERVICES

Modern Art Services (MAS) works with a limited number of clients, enabling each collector to receive both thorough and highly personalized services. The firm negotiates primary and secondary market acquisitions, manages collections, and advises on dispositions based on a transparent fee structure and free of conflicts of interest. In addition to the firm’s work with individual and corporate clients and their collections, MAS works with developers, architects, and municipalities in public art master planning, and commissions works of art for interior and exterior public spaces. Public projects range from large-scale outdoor artworks to dynamic interior lobby spaces. Although several projects have been published, MAS exercises discretion and confidentiality as needed out of sensitivity for its private and corporate collectors.

Lauren Miller, ASA
Founder and Advisor

Lauren expertly guides each new and experienced client on building art collections that cohesively reflect their personal visions, enhance their homes, and contribute to their individual wealth. A collector herself, Lauren shares her clients’ appreciation for both emerging and established artists, especially in the fields of modern and contemporary art. With nearly a decade of experience, Lauren provides her clients with deep insight into appropriate methods of both sourcing new artworks and coordinating dispositions. In addition to her own specialties, she offers her clients the benefit of her large, dependable, and global network of colleagues, which includes leading gallerists, auction house executives, private collectors, curators, conservators, and related arts professionals.

Lauren received her B.A. in Art History from Loyola Marymount University. Prior to founding MAS, Lauren developed her expertise by supporting projects for the Gagosian Gallery and The Lapis Press. Currently, as an independent advisor without inventory, artists, or auction material to promote, Lauren offers neutral and objective market research and analysis regarding quality and value of works of art. She is an Accredited Senior Appraiser designated by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), with extensive experience appraising modern and contemporary art.

A native of Los Angeles, Lauren is passionate about giving back to the community. She is an inaugural member of The Hammer Collective, an invitation-only group of young collectors and arts champions committed to promoting exhibition and artists at the local Hammer Museum. Lauren supports RxArt, a national non-profit organization with a mission to help children heal through visual art. She is also actively involved in The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles where she sits on the Real Estate and Construction Advisory Council. Outside of the office, you’ll find Lauren skiing, baking, refusing to hike, and spending time with her friends and family.

As an art advisor and appraiser, Lauren understands her clients’ needs and is always seeking out new artistic voices and approaches in order to build and compliment their collections.
